A traditional recipe using 100% traditional basil leaven. Made with pure barley wholegrain flour (72%),with wholegrain wheat, oat and rye flours.

Perfect with tomato based salads, traditional Greek salad and any vegetable based Mediterranean dip.

Cretan Rusks and how to eat them

Dakos (as Cretans call them) were originally created to preserve bread.  Dried over a period of hours in a low-heat oven, they can last a year without preservatives.

Ideally they are eaten with a traditional Greek salad. Break the dakos in the salad and wait until it softens (they absorb the tomato juice and olive oil).

If you choose the large rusk, serve the salad on top and again wait until it softens.

You can also drizzle the rusks with water or olive oil and add them to your salad.
